My favorite thing to do after a long and busy day is to go home and relax on the couch or in my bed in front of the television. My apartment is my sanctuary. It is filled with elements of all of my favorite things. I am emotionally tied to everything in my apartment and it truly feels like a big painting that I am constantly adding to. My emotions and comfort are tied into my little habitat and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Her are five simple ways to make your home a relaxing place:
- Make a creative space
Whether it’s a spare room or a small corner, create a space in your home where you can get creative. Add a desk, do crafts, play games, whatever it is that gets your creative juices flowing, do it in that space
- Invest in comforting components
Textured throws, area rugs, and pillows are inexpensive and easy to move around when you need a change. Candles and a weekly bouquet of fresh flowers are also great ways to personalize your space
- Be sure it’s livable
Don’t decorate so much that you do not feel comfortable living in your space. Make it look nice but be sure it is functional as well
- Keep a stash of your favorite snacks
Because cozying on the couch under your favorite throw is just not the same without a tasty indulgence
- Let in some natural light
Drapes and curtains can be beautiful additions, but I say ditch the window dressing and let the natural light shine through. There is just nothing better than crisp sunlight shining through your home.
